Beverley Milton-Edwards is a nonresident senior fellow at the Middle East Council on Global Affairs. Her research focuses on political Islam in the Middle East and security sector governance in conflict-affected countries. She is also a senior policy advisor with more than 20 years of experience advising the European Union and different governments, including Qatar\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n
Previously, Milton-Edwards was a visiting fellow at the Brookings Doha Center and Oxford University, where she wrote about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and security challenges in Iraq, Jordan, and Yemen, among others. Prior, she was a professor of politics and director of the Centre for the Study of Ethnic Conflict at Queen’s University Belfast in Ireland. She has also been part of ceasefire mediations and track II negotiations at different stages of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.<\/p>\n
Milton-Edwards has published numerous articles in International Affairs<\/em>, Security Dialogue<\/em>, Journal of Palestine Studies<\/em>, British Journal of Middle East Studie<\/em>s, and Third World Quarterly<\/em>, among others. She has also authored many books including Contemporary Politics in the Middle East<\/em> <\/a>(Polity Press, 2018), The Muslim Brotherhood: The Arab Spring and its future face<\/em><\/a> (Routledge, 2016), and Islamic Fundamentalism since 1945<\/em> <\/a>(Routledge, 2014).<\/p>\n Milton-Edwards is an elected fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences and founder and board member of the British Association of Islamic Studies.
