From 2013 until 2020, he was T\u00dcS\u0130AD senior fellow at Brookings and director of the Turkey Project. Kiri\u015fci is a regular contributor to the <a href=\"https:\/\/brookings.alley.test\/blog\/order-from-chaos\/\">Order from Chaos<\/a> blog at Brookings.<br \/>\nHis most recent book, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/brookings.alley.test\/book\/turkey-and-the-west\/\">Turkey and the West: Faultlines in a Troubled Alliance<\/a>,\u201d was published by the Brookings Institution Press in November 2017. He is the co-author of the monograph &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/brookings.alley.test\/book\/the-consequences-of-chaos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Consequences of Chaos: Syria&#8217;s Humanitarian Crisis and the Failure to Protect<\/a>&#8221; (Brookings Institution Press, April 2016), which considers the long-term economic, political, and social implications of Syria&#8217;s displaced and offers policy recommendations to address the humanitarian crisis.<br \/>\nBefore joining Brookings, Kiri\u015fci was a professor of international relations and held the Jean Monnet chair in European integration in the department of political science and international relations at Bo\u011fazi\u00e7i University in Istanbul. His areas of research interest include EU-Turkish relations, U.S.-Turkish relations, Turkish foreign and trade policies, European integration, immigration issues, ethnic conflicts, and refugee movements.<br \/>\nHis recent publications include &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/brookings.alley.test\/research\/how-the-eu-and-turkey-can-promote-self-reliance-for-syrian-refugees-through-agricultural-trade\/\">How the EU and Turkey can promote self-reliance for Syrian refugees through agricultural trade<\/a>&#8221; (February 2020), &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/brookings.alley.test\/research\/the-rise-and-fall-of-liberal-democracy-in-turkey-implications-for-the-west\/\">The rise and fall of liberal democracy in Turkey: Implications for the West<\/a>&#8221; (co-authored with Amanda Sloat, February 2019), and &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/brookings.alley.test\/research\/an-ambiguous-partnership-the-serpentine-trajectory-of-turkish-russian-relations-in-the-era-of-erdogan-and-putin\/\">An ambiguous partnership: The serpentine trajectory of Turkish-Russian relations in the era of Erdo\u011fan and Putin<\/a>&#8221; (September 2017). His first paper for Brookings was <a href=\"https:\/\/brookings.alley.test\/research\/turkey-and-the-transatlantic-trade-and-investment-partnership-boosting-the-model-partnership-with-the-united-states\/\">&#8220;Turkey and the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership: Boosting the Model Partnership with the United States&#8221;<\/a> (Brookings, September 2013).<br \/>\nKemal Kiri\u015fci is the author of several books on Turkey including &#8220;Turkey and Its Neighbors: Foreign Relations in Transition&#8221; (co-authored with R. Linden et al; Lynne Reinner, 2011), &#8220;Land of Diverse Migrations: Challenges of Emigration and Immigration in Turkey&#8221; (co-edited with A. \u0130\u00e7duygu; Bilgi University Press, 2009), &#8220;Turkish Immigrants in the European Union: Determinants of Immigration and Integration&#8221; (co-edited book with R.Erzan; Routledge, 2007), &#8220;Turkey In World Politics: An Emerging Multi-Regional Power&#8221; (co-edited with B. Rubin; Lynne Reinner, 2001), and &#8220;The Kurdish Question and Turkey: An Example of a Trans-State Ethnic Conflict&#8221;(co-authored with G. Winrow; Frank Cass, 1997).<br \/>\nKiri\u015fci earned a doctorate in international relations from the City University, London; a master&#8217;s in international relations from the University of Kent at Canterbury, England; and a bachelor&#8217;s in finance and management from Bo\u011fazi\u00e7i University, Istanbul.
