{"id":68702,"date":"2010-02-13T17:52:07","date_gmt":"2010-02-13T22:52:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brookings.alley.test\/events\/2010-u-s-islamic-world-forumwriting-the-next-chapter\/"},"modified":"2022-08-13T11:48:20","modified_gmt":"2022-08-13T11:48:20","slug":"2010-u-s-islamic-world-forumwriting-the-next-chapter","status":"publish","type":"event","link":"https:\/\/mecouncil-afkar.fuegodigitalmedia.qa\/en\/event\/2010-u-s-islamic-world-forumwriting-the-next-chapter\/","title":{"rendered":"2010 U.S.-Islamic World Forum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With a video message from U.S. President Barack Obama and an address from U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/brookings.alley.test\/projects\/islamic-world.aspx\">Project on U.S. Relations with the Islamic World<\/a>\u00a0at Brookings and the Government of Qatar hosted the seventh annual\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/brookings.alley.test\/projects\/islamic-world\/US-Islamic-World-Forum.aspx\">U.S.-Islamic World Forum<\/a> in Doha, Qatar, on\u00a0February 13-15, 2010.\u00a0 Each year, the forum brings together leaders from across the Muslim world for dialogue with key U.S. officials and policymakers.<br \/>\nAmong this year\u2019s speakers and participants were prominent Muslim leaders and Obama Administration and other U.S. officials, including Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan; U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton; White House Senior Director for Global Engagement Pradeep Ramamurthy; U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Holbrooke; and U.S. Senator John Kerry, chairman, Senate Foreign Relations Committee.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.state.gov\/secretary\/rm\/2010\/02\/136687.htm\">Watch Secretary of State Hillary Clinton&#8217;s remarks \u00bb<br \/>\n<\/a><br \/>\nDuring the forum five plenary sessions took place on topics such as the Obama administration&#8217;s policies towards the Muslim world, the future of U.S.-Muslim world relations, and shared challenges to ensuring regional stability.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/brookings.alley.test\/legacy\/4D0B8CEE-990C-48B4-8F2B-00947A12CDA0\">Read more about the plenary sessions \u00bb<\/a><br \/>\nDuring the forum four working groups were convened, each discussing a different issue in U.S. relations with the Muslim world.
